Kecharis Monastery

The Monastery is located in the resort town of Tsakhkadzor and serves as an episcopal seat of the Diocese of Kotayk.

Kecharis Monastery consists of three churches and three chapels, dating from the 11^th century.

According to historical records the monastery was a major educational centre until the late 13^th century. Great Armenian scholars Grigor Magistros, Vasak Khaghbakian, and Khachatur Kecharetsi (Khachatur of Kecharis) lived and worked at Kecharis.

The Monastery undertook a renovation during 1998-2001. Now the Monastery serves as the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Kotayk.
