Kecharis Monastery
Kecharis Monastery consists of three churches and three chapels, dating from the 11th century. According to historical records the monastery was a major educational centre until the late 13th century. Great Armenian scholars Grigor Magistros, Vasak Khaghbakian, and Khachatur Kecharetsi (Khachatur of Kecharis) lived and worked at Kecharis. The Monastery undertook a renovation during 1998-2001. Now the Monastery serves as the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Kotayk.
