 | | Haghartsin Monastery was built in the 12-13th centuries on the base of a monastery rooted further in the past. It was an important scholarly, cultural, and educational center in 13-14th centuries and particularly in the 1330’s under the leadership of Khachatur Taronatsi. Being located on a spectacular landscape of Dilijan Forest, it is harmonically embraced by the nature and is a seemly place for reflection and prayer. Recently, while visiting the monastery, the ruler of Sharjah, UAE, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, was so much impressed by the monastery that princely donated for its upgrade.
