Be aware that Armenia was the first country to adopt Christianity as State Religion in 301 and that two of our Lord's apostles, St. Thaddeus and St. Bartholomew, brought Christianity to Armenia in the first century.

Hovhannavank Monastery (IV - XIII cc.)
The monastery was founded by St. Grigor Lusavorich (Gregory the Illuminator), who brought the relics of St. John the Baptist and buried them there. That is why the monastery is called Hovhannavank (Monastery of John).
